Prenzlauer Berg has been Berlin's "in" neighbourhood for decades. Once popular with students in particular, the district has now grown up a bit - although still as exciting as it used to be - just a little more chic and pretty. Here you can find the best Japanese restaurant in town - Sasaya - or the wonderful Helmholtzplatz, where chic cafés (Café Liebling) are lined up with sophisticated restaurants (Berlinn's first hors d'oeuvre restaurant Restaurant Bricole). On the cosy Kollwitzplatz there is often a market where you can find the freshest vegetables and the most delicious coffee or just watch the hustle and bustle. If you want to get away, take tram 12 or M1 and roll down to the centre. Also the subway station Eberswalder Strasse and S-Bahn station Schönhauser Allee are all around the corner.
