Mitte is the heart of Berlin with all its sights, such as the Gendarmenmarkt - one of the most beautiful squares in Berlin with the Konzerthaus, Deutscher Dom and Französischer Dom, the Friedrichstrasse promenade, where you can find everything from delicatessen at Lafayette, to high-fashion labels such as Etro, to world-famous culinary highlights such as Bocca di Bacco, the Grill Royal on the banks of the Spree or the vegetarian in-restaurant Chipps with open show kitchen. The Borchardts, the Newton Bar as well as the Hotel de Rome with its impressive Rooftop Bar are also right in the middle of Mitte. 

The streets around Auguststrasse have a lot to offer culturally and the density of galleries in the city is highest here. Favorites are the Galerie Deschler or of course the James-Simon-Galerie of Chipperfield.
