Tourism project in the Alentejo

On the outskirts of Arraiolos, a historic hilltop Alentejo town, we discovered this beautiful quinta with an architectural project developed to create a boutique tourism project with hotel suites, restaurant gallery, event space and workshops.

A property with soul and a story. The quinta was originally built as a farm in the 1920s by a collective of entrepreneurial farmers who decided to build a pasta factory to earn greater profit from the wheat they produced. The location, just on the main road out of Arraiolos, a 1hr15 minute drive from Lisbon, twenty minutes to the Unesco Heritage World City Évora, 1h15 from the Comporta coastinle and 30 minutes to Estremoz - makes it a great base to explore the Alentejo region. Oenophiles will also enjoy being in the midst of the Alentejo wine route.

The property sits on a plot of 5,991m² and is composed of a 8 bedroom main family house, two 2 and 3 bedroom cottages, four agricultural warehouses and a separate support building. The concept of the original tourism project was to create a guesthouse with 12 suites (in the main house) overlooking a garden and pool area, a separate building with a further 8 studios and a multifunctional gallery, restaurant, event and coworking space within the twin warehouses. The architectural project was previously approved in Arraiolos Town Hall, who were supportive of developing this tourism concept in the area.

We were immediately inspired by the twin double warehouse spaces that could work as a beautiful event venue and the period features of the main family house. A project with endless possibilities in the Alentejo region that is gaining increasing global attention as an area to slow down, relax and enjoy the simple pleasures in life.

Arraiolos is also in an eligible golden visa area.
