Design Finca between S’Horta and Calonge
INTERIOR
Located in Mallorca’s idyllic southeast countryside between S’Horta and Calonge, Ses Aigos is a finca unlike any other. Conceived by architect Thomas Wegner, this exceptional residence reinterprets traditional Mediterranean living through a contemporary lens, blurring the lines between domestic space and the surrounding nature. Rooted in the use of raw, local materials and crafted with an uncompromising attention to detail, the house feels organically embedded in its landscape, as if it had always belonged there.
As soon as one enters the estate, a sense of retreat sets in. The finca reveals itself as a self-contained world, a serene compound where architecture and nature speak in harmony. The welcoming entrance leads into a series of warm, tactile interiors organized around a central patio, planted with towering palms and open to the sky. This courtyard becomes the beating heart of the home, ideal for dinners with friends or long evenings of music and conversation in a tropical setting.
The ground floor is arranged around this patio and offers generous social spaces alongside intimate retreats. From the entrance, a dining room with fireplace connects to the spacious main kitchen, accented with traditional stone and complemented by a pantry. The adjacent atrium, used as a second dining area, opens wide onto a south-facing terrace, offering a seamless transition to outdoor living. To one side, a private guest wing includes a bedroom, a bathroom, and a second kitchen with dining area, perfect for independent stays. On the other side, the living room opens to a shaded pergola, while a discreet laundry room and two staircases provide practical functionality without compromising the calm elegance of the layout.
The upper floor is a quiet haven, offering six bedrooms and five bathrooms, all arranged around a mezzanine that overlooks the space below. The western wing houses a large bedroom with bathroom, alongside a living area with kitchen and fireplace, opening to a private terrace. The eastern wing contains three additional bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, one featuring a freestanding bathtub and double vanity. These separate living areas, each with their own kitchen, allow friends and family to share the house while maintaining independence and privacy.
Throughout the finca, the architecture is playfully orchestrated and meticulously integrated into the natural landscape. Nooks and lounges, both inside and out, invite moments of solitude or connection. The massive, insulating walls offer cool relief on warm days, while fireplaces create comfort in cooler seasons. In the garden, you will discover hidden corners, mature trees, and curated views that invite you to slow down and let the world fade away.
A short walk from the house, a large secluded pool stretches 27 meters in length and is set within a 13,700 square meter plot, surrounded by views over the rolling countryside. The roof terrace crowns the experience, offering spectacular vistas all the way to the sea.
Ses Aigos is more than a house. It is a love letter to nature, to craftsmanship, and to a slower way of life. From the rocks that grow out of the lounge floor to the gentle transitions between interior and exterior, every detail speaks of quiet luxury and deep respect for place. A home full of stories, light, and texture, it invites you to pause, look closely, and let time stand still. With a full ETV rental license in place, Ses Aigos also offers the rare opportunity for legal and profitable holiday rentals, making it as smart an investment as it is a sanctuary.
EXTERIOR
The transformation of Ses Aigos extends far beyond its architecture and reaches into the surrounding landscape, creating a coherent and deeply atmospheric estate. Once an old water reservoir, the building has been reimagined and expanded into a finca that combines historical substance with contemporary design. The original stone structure forms the foundation of the house, preserved with care and complemented by new volumes that mirror its materiality and proportions. Old and new come together in a balanced and respectful dialogue.
From above, the composition becomes clear. The house is arranged around a central courtyard, with tiled rooflines, slender chimneys, and covered terraces forming a rhythm that follows the natural contours of the land. The architecture never imposes itself, but rather settles into its setting with quiet confidence. The layout opens in all directions, connecting with gardens, terraces, and shaded outdoor rooms.
The 27-meter swimming pool is set a short walk from the house, slightly removed to create a sense of retreat. Surrounded by trees and greenery, its long, elegant form is both functional and sculptural. A shaded lounge area and sunbeds invite moments of rest, while the elevated position offers views across the surrounding countryside. The pool is part of a 13,700 square meter plot that provides space, privacy, and a strong sense of place.
The approach to the finca is equally striking. A wide, tree-lined driveway curves through the estate and opens gradually onto a more formal garden landscape. Olive trees, dry-stone walls, and mature palms guide the arrival, creating a sense of scale and seclusion. The transition from wild to cultivated landscape enhances the impression of calm and clarity.
Ses Aigos is more than a house. It is a carefully composed environment where architecture, landscape, and memory are interwoven. Every element, from the preserved stonework to the long line of the pool and the pompous curve of the driveway, is designed to offer space, serenity, and beauty. The result is a place that feels both rooted and refined, timeless yet alive.
LOCATION
Ses Aigos is nestled in the gently rolling countryside between S’Horta and Calonge in Mallorca’s peaceful southeast. This part of the island is known for its authentic rural character, where stone walls, vineyards and almond groves shape a timeless landscape under wide open skies.
Despite its tranquil setting, the finca is wonderfully close to many of the island’s most appealing places. The picturesque natural harbour town of Portocolom, with its waterfront promenade and the popular chiringuito S’Arenal, is only a short drive away and perfect for long seaside lunches or a sunset swim. Some of Mallorca’s finest beaches, including Cala Mondragó and Cala Santanyí, are also within easy reach, offering turquoise waters and sheltered bays for relaxing days by the sea.
Everyday village life is nearby too. S’Horta can be reached in about eight minutes, Calonge in seven minutes and S’Alqueria Blanca in around ten minutes. These villages offer restaurants like Bacco, welcoming bars and local weekly markets with fresh produce and a friendly atmosphere.
While Ses Aigos feels wonderfully private and quiet, the island’s capital Palma and its international airport are just forty-five minutes away by car, ensuring excellent connections whenever needed.
