Charming 1930s stone townhouse in the historic centre of Campos
INTERIOR
Casa de Piedra is a 1930s stone townhouse in the historic centre of Campos, redesigned in 2014 by architect Luis von Waberer to preserve its historic soul while introducing contemporary elegance. Behind its original stone façade, the house opens into a long sitting room with fireplace, parquet flooring and a discreet guest WC. Preserved marés stone arches lead into the open kitchen, fitted with a central island, sleek appliances and generous dining area. Wide glass doors connect directly to a shaded porch, with Binissalem stone paving carried through into the garden. To the side, a separate laundry and utility room is concealed behind a restored Mallorcan door.
The garden patio is a private oasis with a lemon tree, bougainvillea, plumbago, agapanthus and automatic irrigation. At its heart lies a 4.5 by 4.5 metre plunge pool with stone surround and sun terrace. At the far end stands the independent guest house, a Casita with high ceilings, polished white cement floors, glass doors and its own bathroom. This versatile space can be used as a guest suite, study, gym or staff quarters.
A white cement staircase with skylight leads upstairs to three bedrooms. The principal suite includes an en suite bathroom and fitted cupboards, while two further bedrooms share a family bathroom. Each opens to a long terracotta-tiled terrace overlooking the garden patio, designed with glass panels to maximise natural light below.
The renovation was a complete transformation: the house was gutted and reconfigured with skylights and open volumes, walls removed to create flowing spaces, floors excavated to install underfloor heating independently adjustable in every room, new stone sills and Mallorcan wooden shutters for every window. Materials were chosen with care: Binissalem stone for the outdoor terraces, solid wood parquet on the ground floor, and polished white cement for the stairs, upper levels and guest house.
Today, Casa de Piedra offers year-round comfort with fireplace, underfloor heating and natural ventilation. It combines the authenticity of a Mallorcan townhouse with the rare luxury of private outdoor living, a separate guest house, and a tranquil garden with pool, all in the heart of Campos.
EXTERIOR
Main house
Casa de Piedra greets the street with a beautifully preserved 1930s stone façade. Its natural texture, framed by pale stone surrounds, gives the house a timeless presence within the historic centre of Campos. Symmetrically arranged windows with traditional green shutters and an original wooden entrance door underline the authentic character of the townhouse while blending harmoniously with the surrounding streetscape.
The rear of the main house opens generously to the garden with whitewashed walls, arched openings and a deep shaded terrace. French doors connect the living areas to the outdoors, while a long upper balcony lined with shutters overlooks the courtyard and pool. The composition combines traditional Mediterranean features with clean lines and a fresh palette, creating a calm backdrop for the greenery and stone walls that frame the garden.
Guest house
At the far end of the garden, the independent guest house presents its own rustic stone façade, enriched by the patina of age and accented with soft green shutters. French doors open directly to the pool terrace, making the guest house feel both private and integrated into the garden. Its scale and materials echo the historic charm of the main house while giving it an intimate, secluded character.
LOCATION
Campos is one of Mallorca’s most captivating towns, where historic authenticity meets a refined contemporary lifestyle. Its old town, with cobbled streets and traditional stone façades, has been carefully preserved, while recent urban enhancements have given the centre a new elegance. The redesigned market square, with its natural stone surfaces, landscaped greenery and discreet underground parking, has become a lively focal point, framed by historic architecture that glows in the Mediterranean light.
Gastronomy and craftsmanship are flourishing here. The boutique hotel Sa Creu Nova is home to Tess de Mar, where Mediterranean cuisine is reinterpreted with creativity and finesse. Just a short stroll away, Bistró Calle Cruz has become a favourite for its seasonal cuisine and intimate atmosphere, with a patio that feels like a hidden garden and turns every meal into an experience. For daily pleasures, LAROTI offers artisanal bread and pastries of outstanding quality, reflecting the town’s growing community of makers who value authenticity and craft.
Campos also enjoys a privileged location close to the sea. The natural beaches of Es Trenc, Ses Covetes and Sa Ràpita are less than 15 minutes away, offering turquoise waters and pristine sand dunes. At the same time, Palma and its international airport can be reached in little more than 20 minutes, ensuring excellent connectivity.
