This one-bedroom apartment in Santa Isabel has been recently redesigned with a clear architectural approach. Originally built in 1962, the renovation reorganised the layout and introduced a calm palette of oak, microcement and stainless steel, creating a cohesive material language throughout the home. Soft organic curves appear in the kitchen cabinetry, the corridor arches and the planted beds on the terrace, reinforcing the quiet unity of the project. Set on the edge of Campo de Ourique, one of Lisbon’s most dynamic residential neighbourhoods, the apartment combines thoughtful design with the ease of daily life, with cafés, shops and services all within walking distance.
The apartment is entered through a small hall that separates the bedroom from the social areas. The bedroom faces the street and receives natural light through a large window spanning almost the full width of the room. High-quality Navarra windows provide acoustic and thermal insulation, helping maintain a calm interior. Along one wall, custom oak joinery combines wardrobe storage with an integrated desk, creating a comfortable workspace without disrupting the balance of the room.
The kitchen, fully equipped with Bosch appliances, including a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge-freezer, oven, microwave and an induction hob with an integrated extractor, and living area share an open space that connects directly to the terrace through a glazed enclosure. This transition allows daylight to travel deeper into the apartment and softens the boundary between inside and outside. The terrace has been shaped as a garden. Planted beds follow curved lines and the greenery becomes part of the daily view from the living room.
Material continuity plays an important role throughout the interior. Microcement surfaces run across floors, walls and ceilings, creating a quiet background that allows the oak carpentry to stand out. The same wood detailing appears in the kitchen, doors and wardrobes, while stainless steel elements add subtle contrast. In the bathroom, natural Portuguese stone continues the restrained palette introduced throughout the apartment. The renovation also included important technical upgrades, with completely new electrical and plumbing systems installed and full waterproofing carried out on the terrace.
Santa Isabel sits on the edge of Campo de Ourique, one of Lisbon’s most complete residential neighbourhoods. Daily life here happens easily on foot. ETMA Bakery is a short walk away for morning coffee, Frequency Pilates sits around the corner, and Amoreiras Shopping Centre provides shops, services and restaurants nearby. Rato metro station connects quickly to the rest of the city, while Príncipe Real is within walking distance.
