EXTERIOR
Villa Rieck belongs to the villa district by the Bille river, which was built by wealthy Hamburgers between 1867-1914 and has been preserved until today. The proximity to Hamburg and the Hamburg-Berlin railway line, built in 1846, made this area extremely attractive for the well-off Hamburg merchants. The development plan only provided for stately buildings.

Here you can already see the special history of the Rieck family's property, which has an impressive size of around one hectare (9.960 m²). Based on Palladio's villas around Venice, similar "country houses" were created here.

Located on a slight hill, you can see the park and your own lake (approx. 1.098 m²). The lower end is the Bille River with its own landing stage. Designed in 1894 by the architectural duo Jungclaus & Rathje and expanded in 1912 for the growing family, the building impresses with its unique beauty, especially due to its prominent secluded location. Two-storey, with a tower-like risalit, the building appears rather austere, to which the closure that appears from below as a flat roof also contributes. The roof overhang is filled in and adorned with a powerful frieze. The large, high windows, structured with numerous, filigree bars, are of course precisely and regularly arranged. The amount of large windows allow for all rooms to be showered in natural light and warmth of the sun.

The building is embellished with plastering flasks, cornices, friezes, set off in white with a pale pink as the basic color. Much like a portal, the original and well preserved entrance door beautifies the building. The size of the area allows a stately driveway. It is this unique combination of architecture and landscape that makes this facility so impressive. A design gem that is second to none. It is hard to believe that something like this can still be bought.

Modern technology, pool house (currently not in operation), sauna etc. are of course included; but swimming in your own lake or a boat trip cannot be replaced. Another special feature is the own water source, which rises on the property. The water feeds the natural lake and was used as a separate drinking water supply for the family for many years before the villa was connected to the Hamburg city water.
