INTERIOR
Like a child's drawing, this red brick house from the 1950s stands in front of a lovingly maintained ornamental garden, shaded by a gracefully leaning willow tree.
In 2010, the house underwent extensive renovations, including a new heating system, an open floor plan on the ground floor, a new kitchen, and new Velux windows in the roof.
The vestibule, added on the side in the 1970s, provides space for coats and shoes before entering the living areas. It also houses a small guest restroom with a shower. A curved wooden staircase leads to the gabled roof floor, where two bedrooms, or alternatively a study or children's room, and a bathroom are located.
A frosted glass door opens into the open living and dining area, on the eastern side of which is the kitchen, and further back, through floor-to-ceiling windows, a wooden veranda leads into the lovingly landscaped ornamental garden, at the eastern end of which stands a small garden shed.
The house is fully basemented and dry. Here, wine is stored and ornamental plants are kept over the winter.
A garage is also available.
EXTERIOR
Typical post-war Hamburg red brick architecture. The rooms are arranged in a circle around the central chimney. The old windows facing the street have been preserved, while floor-to-ceiling windows to the garden add lightness and bring plenty of light into the house. The roof was renewed during the last major renovation in 2010.
LOCATION
The residential area is characterized by houses from the 1930s to the 1970s on approximately 1,000 sqm plots. Old trees, little traffic, and well-kept gardens shape the scene. In recent years, there has been a gradual generational change, with occasional plots being divided, new houses built, and children playing in the narrow streets.
Between Ohlsdorf Cemetery and Hamburg Airport, the Alster River flows through the lush greenery of Hummelsbüttel. Charming old buildings, well-maintained parks, and the idyllic Alster River make Hummelsbüttel an ideal place for families to live. Hummelsbüttel is the closest to the city center among the Alster-adjacent districts, making it also interesting for commuters due to its proximity to the airport and the motorway.
