INTERIOR
This historic apartment is located on the garden level and the north-south-west orientation ensures lots of light and sun, especially in the living/dining/kitchen area. The associated garden (29 m²) and the terrace (23 m²) are surrounded by a beautiful wall, which gives the apartment this intimate atmosphere even when grilling, gardening or simply relaxing. Everything absolutely quiet and safe.
On 115 m² there is a spacious, open kitchen/dining/living area, three bedrooms or study rooms and a large bathroom with shower and bathtub. One room has a gallery so that it can be used flexibly for sleeping, working, playing, etc. The floor plan separates the intimate bedrooms and the more public areas. The third bedroom can therefore also be used as a study.
During the renovation of the building from 2011-2013, attention was paid to the implementation of future-proof technology, such as district heating. In terms of design, great emphasis was placed on preserving the character of the old building. Room heights, window formats with lattice windows, doors, etc. were retained or were appropriately supplemented. New, large double-leaf glass doors in the living room and study allow you to open wide to your own “patio”.
In addition to respecting the old structures, the design is based on pleasant restraint: ceilings, walls, windows, doors, etc. shine in white. The oak parquet flooring contrasts in material and color. When installed in all rooms, it creates a warm atmosphere. The color of the travertine stone slabs in the bathroom matches the oak floor perfectly. The homogeneity and rigor in the selection of colors and materials creates this spacious impression. The highlight is of course the fireplace with glazing; lovely, homely atmosphere on cozy winter evenings. Here you live aesthetically, comfortably, secluded and yet so close to everything the big city has to offer.
EXTERIOR
Zillestraße 107 is a typical Berlin building from 1910. Four storeys with a hipped roof, side wing and inner courtyard, it embodies Wilhelminian style architecture par excellence. The multi-storey bay window and the covered balconies behind it form the basic structure, complemented by high window formats. The base is subdued in terms of plastering. The entrance element is impressive, shining so authentically in gray from the inside and outside.
Historical elements can also be found in the entrance: marble wall coverings, impressively large, ornamented apartment doors, wooden banisters and steps, among other things. The old was complemented in an adapted style, such as the gray and white tiles laid in a checkerboard pattern in the entrance.
The transition to the inner courtyard with the historic glass element also bears witness to the splendor of the era at which it was built. The tasteful renovation does the rest. The result is a retreat that is so pleasantly quiet and so beautiful at the same time.
