INTERIOR
Reality or dream? It's reality.
This 4th-floor apartment is a statement in design and elegance. Renovated in 2016, its cohesive color palette and high-quality materials create a surreal aesthetic. Seamless light gray microcement flooring throughout the apartment offers understated elegance, while the vibrant plastered walls and custom-built furniture add artistic contrast.
The entrance features an anthracite wardrobe with a coral seating niche. The heart of the home is the L-shaped living area, awash with sunlight from floor-to-ceiling balcony doors facing south and a window to the west. Terracotta and pistachio-green walls bring warmth and a natural vibe, paired with an open Bulthaup kitchen in pale pink, featuring top-tier Miele and Bora appliances.
A spacious anthracite-colored dressing area equipped with S+ system furniture leads to the bedroom with a free-standing bathtub and a wonderful view over Köllnischer Park and the colossal television tower, especially at night. The en-suite bathroom is a sophisticated mix of blue-green and gold, equipped with Villeroy & Boch ceramics and fittings.
A pastel pink children’s room, also overlooking the park, can be divided into two separate bedrooms or studies. A separate shower room is conveniently located nearby.
Another room, ideal as a guest or study room, faces west and is adjacent to the living area. The sunny balcony off the living room overlooks a peaceful inner courtyard.
The apartment is further enhanced by a stylish guest WC, a utility room, and a spacious cellar.
EXTERIOR
This listed architectural gem stands proudly in the heart of Berlin, near the River Spree and across from Köllnischer Park. Originally built between 1930 and 1933 by architect Albert Gottheimer, it served as the headquarters for the AOK health insurance company. The building embodies expressionist architecture, known for its sculptural forms - a rare style in construction. It boasts a load-bearing steel structure, adorned with a red-brown clinker façade. Rich with historical detail, the building’s façade is accented by intricate ornamentation and decorative clay figures that flank the entrance, drawing the eye across its entire height. Pilasters nod to the building’s history, while the varying heights, staircase, and entrance portal further emphasize its grand presence.
Completely renovated by 2018, this unique complex now houses exclusive apartments, each designed with meticulous attention to quality and aesthetics. The historic exterior has been preserved, with materials like the original stone façade still in perfect condition. Inside, the grand staircase evokes the famous Bauhaus staircase, immortalized by Schlemmer. Meanwhile, the former counter hall and entrance have been restored to reflect the grandeur of early administrative buildings.
The renovation and expansion concept embraced the historical scale while incorporating contemporary architectural elements. New additions, including perforated and glass façades, blend seamlessly with the old, further elevating the overall design. The courtyards have been thoughtfully landscaped and filled with greenery, creating a harmonious fusion of old-world charm and modern innovation. This blend of high-quality architecture, interior design, and garden landscaping makes this ensemble an extraordinary architectural achievement that bridges expressionism and modernism.
