INTERIOR
This gem of an historic building is surrounded by Kollwitzkiez, Scheunenviertel and Pappelallee. On the 2nd floor of the side wing, it is absolutely quiet with green views into a sweet little park and at the same time direct access to the pulsating life of the city.
The orientation and the perceived 2nd floor (it feels like this due to the mezzanine floor and high ceilings) provide plenty of daylight and sunshine for breakfast in the morning. The 67 m² apartment is entered via a small hallway, from which the large daylight bathroom with bathtub and space for a washing machine and dryer leads directly.
Then you enter the living/dining and kitchen area, which was designed according to the Berlin room principle. This is followed by a dressing room, through which you reach the bedroom. Here, the two large mullioned windows, so typical of Wilhelminian-style buildings, blend harmoniously with the high ceilings. The other rooms also benefit from the room heights, as these ensure beautiful room proportions.
During the recent renovation, other key elements were retained, such as the old doors with brass handles, the size of the window openings and the beautiful floorboards, which create a homely ambience. In terms of design, everything was kept in white, including the kitchen unit and the bathroom with its tiles and sanitaryware. This two-tone combination of white and natural wood-brown is unagitatedly restrained. This is appropriate for the size of the apartment; less is more here, especially as the personal items have a more enriching effect. Ergo, a charming and beautiful apartment with a focus on a pleasant atmosphere.
EXTERIOR
The building at Oderberger Strasse 20 gleams in brilliant white, with a clear and strictly symmetrical structure.
The insignia of Wilhelminian style buildings come into their own: perforated façade, central gateway, variations of horizontal stucco bands, classically beautiful mullioned windows, balustrade-like window parapets, etc. Virtually the entire lavish repertoire of turn-of-the-century façade design was used.
What has been preserved and the splendor that is still evident today is impressive, as is the surrounding development. This is why the quarter is so extremely popular.
This aesthetic is also evident in the entrance hall and staircase. The perfect condition and the beautifully planned color scheme, bottle green and delicate creamy white, lend the interior that inimitable flair that is so characteristic of buildings from this era.
Other amenities are: new boiler system from the end of 2022, cellar compartment in the attic, communal garden in the inner courtyard as well as bicycle room.
LOCATION
Oderberger Strasse is a popular promenade between Prenzlberg and Mitte. With plenty of urban flair, you can sip an espresso, store for vintage goods or taste local delicacies here. And of course, Mauerpark with its green spaces, concerts and sports facilities is just around the corner. You can shop at Denns BioMarkt (3 minutes' walk) or at Rewe on Schönhauser Allee.
In terms of transportation, you are ideally connected via the U-Bahn station Eberswalder Str. or the streetcar on Kastanienallee.
