INTERIOR
This 58 m² apartment is located in Berlin's trendy Bergmannkiez district. Located on the 2nd floor in the front building, it faces east-west on two sides. On one side you look at the street, partially greened with old trees and on the other side to the quiet inner courtyard.
The space consists of a spacious living room, a bedroom, a dining room with a semi-open, separate kitchen and a bathroom with a shower. All rooms are accessed directly from the hallway. The premises have the advantages that make the Gründerzeit old buildings so popular. High ceilings achieve beautifully proportioned rooms with matching mullioned windows, single or double. The symmetrical arrangement ensures visual order and structure. Furthermore, the old coffered doors with the profiled walls ensure that the historical charm is preserved. The door sills that have also remained round off the picture.
The historic building has been lovingly renovated. This was contrasted with extremely sophisticated interior design with a contemporary look. This starts with the high-gloss, semi-composite white tiles in the kitchen and continues with the large tile formats in gray in the bathroom. The chrome fittings from Steinberg(e.g. the rain shower), the white sanitary ware from Duravit and the towel warmer were selected from innovative design products and combined very tastefully. Everything has been stripped down to white and grey, including the kitchen fixtures. This cool mix of colors is countered by the warm brown tone of the newly laid oak floorboards.
The location on the 2nd floor makes the apartment bright and the partial orientation to the inner courtyard makes it quiet. Due to the restrained design concept, the apartment appears timelessly beautiful. Something that remains, that endures, especially since the technology has been completely revised. Something for lovers of the combination of old and new, conservative and modern, factual but still comfortable.
EXTERIOR
Kreuzberg's townscape is characterized by architecture from the turn of the 20th century - Gründerzeit facades everywhere. The local property also contributes to the beautiful overall appearance with its perforated façade consisting of the same, high-standing window formats, the centrally placed oriels, the stucco decoration above the windows, the base with a small frieze and the representative entrance portal. Together with the restrained colourfulness, it fits perfectly into the picture of the street.
The interior is also characterized by the charm of historical buildings. High hallways, a round arch that takes up the shape of the front door, stairs with turned banisters, filigree lattice windows, historic apartment entrance doors etc. bear witness to the solid craftsmanship of previous generations. All of this has been carefully prepared. An aesthetic whole has been created with the colored shades of black, white and gray; beautiful in its reserve. As a resident, you experience aesthetics and sophistication here. More beautiful living in Kreuzberg, just as the builders intended and implemented at the time.
LOCATION
Some call the Bergmannkiez the heart of Kreuzberg, because there are beautiful old buildings, hip cafes, a little junk and a lot of food. From Monday to Saturday you can buy fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, bread, cheese and other regional delicacies in the Marheineke market hall, just a 5-minute walk from the apartment. On the adjacent Bergmannstrasse you can stroll along the many boutiques, stroll and of course shop. Afterwards you can lick a delicious ice cream with Vanille & Marille on the way to the beautiful, green Viktoriapark. And of course there are plenty of cafés, this is where the true café culture actually originated: be it the Cabana Coffee Roasters, the Barcomi's Kaffeerösterei or the Chapter One Coffee.
Those who really want to get away are ideally connected via the Gneisenaustrasse underground station, several bus lines from Blücherstrasse or one of the many car-sharing offers. Thus, you can reach the main station in about 15 minutes and BER airport in approx. 30 minutes.
