INTERIOR
As soon as you enter the apartment, you can feel the spaciousness in the spacious entrance with its opening lines of sight, which is characteristic of the old Berlin apartments in what was then the “new west”. There are three rooms on the street side, the first of which is closed and offers access to the south-east facing balcony. It is particularly suitable as a bedroom, guest room or study. Across the courtyard is a second bedroom with access to the shower room, whose ceiling in the shower area is covered with gold leaf. The other two rooms on the street side are connected to each other by a double-leaf door, and a three-leaf door leads from the living room into the “Berlin Room” on the courtyard side, which functions as a kitchen and dining room in accordance with today's living concepts. These three rooms form the heart of the apartment. The fitted kitchen is from Bulthaup and equipped with Neff electrical appliances. It was hardly used and, like the entire apartment, is in exceptionally well-kept condition. From the “Berlin Room” you can access the private wing, which contains the large master bedroom with an attached dressing room and the spacious daylight bathroom. The bathroom has a very spacious shower and looks particularly characterful thanks to the exposed brickwork and its unusual capped ceiling. The floor-to-ceiling built-in cupboards in the hallway area and the dressing room are visually restrained and perfect the use of space in this apartment wing.
As part of the core renovation in 2013, the entire apartment technology was renewed, all walls were filled, new ceiling stucco was installed and the existing oak parquet was partly refurbished and partly replaced with large-format oak floorboards. The equipment is consistently top, only the best materials and first-class products from well-known manufacturers were used.
EXTERIOR
Marburger Strasse is a small shopping street in the Charlottenburg district. The buildings, constructed in Wilhelminian style, were intended for tenants from the upper bourgeoisie. The architecture today consists of buildings from the turn of the century (historicism) and buildings from the various decades that were built after the end of the Second World War. The building in question fully recalls the original splendor of this street. Historicism in its most beautiful form inside and out and therefore classified as a cultural monument. The lavish portal with the Doric columns in front and the niches for figures rises over two floors and is really impressive. Recessed balconies, blown gable, lion heads are preserved ornaments that have been lovingly restored. Horizontal friezes, cleaning shelves, window sills, etc. are also part of the decoration of this building.
The mix of different epochs, which was so influential in late historicism, is clearly recognizable. Avenue trees are also part of the streetscape. During the extensive renovation, the old was preserved and stylistically supplemented, including the harmonious dismantling of the shop floor area. In this way, a gem has been preserved that reveals its full splendor inside. The foyer is unique. Different types of marble combined with the diversity of building history created this unique entrance. Columns, balustrades and wide steps create a grandeur that affects residents and visitors as they stroll along and up here. Two flights of pure marble stairs with wrought iron balustrades lead to the gallery on the first floor, which offers an impressive theater-like setting. The beauty of this building entrance is emphasized by its subtly used illumination.
An attitude to life like that of the Belle Epoque emerges here. The most spacious living in the most luxurious ambience and the flair of the past is offered here in lively Berlin.
LOCATION
The Tauentzienstrasse-Kurfürstendamm street was originally designed as a purely residential area towards the end of the 19th century and, with its huge apartments behind magnificent stucco facades, formed the core area of the “rich West”, to which well-heeled Berlin bankers, industrialists and intellectuals were drawn at the time. After the city was divided, the area underwent a character change in which it formed the undisputed city center of West Berlin with the Bikini House and Europa Center as well as the shops located along Tauentzienstrasse and Kurfürstendamm. The location is currently benefiting from the present and its past: the bustle of the city center with its variety of shops and restaurants has remained, but the charm of its original era can still be experienced, especially in the side streets of Kurfürstendamm, such as in the Literaturhaus on Fasanenstraße.
One is perfectly connected to public transport via the train stations "Wittenbergplatz", "Kurfürstendamm" and "Zoologischer Garten" as well as various bus lines. The BER can be reached quickly by car in around 25 minutes.
