Bright period apartment on the 2nd floor, front building with west and south exposures
INTERIOR
This sunny period apartment on the second floor of the front building is located in the sought-after Scandinavian Quarter and stands out with its bright south and west orientation. All rooms are conveniently laid out and accessible from the central hallway. On the west side are the kitchen and a spacious bathroom filled with natural light, featuring a bathtub and space for a washing machine. Both rooms have west-facing windows. The bedroom also faces the quiet courtyard and has a charming, slightly angled layout.
The living area opens to the south side of the apartment and is divided into two generous zones: a dining area and a living room, connected by original paneled doors, including elegant double doors with historic fittings. The dining area is further enhanced by a beautiful bay window with large panes that flood the space with light and offer a pleasant view. From the living room, a door opens directly onto the sunny south-facing balcony, seamlessly extending the living space outdoors.
The apartment features high ceilings of 3.20 meters, freshly plastered walls, and original wooden floorboards that highlight its authentic period character. Altogether, the layout combines classic charm with modern comfort, offering a bright and welcoming home in one of the area’s most desirable locations.
EXTERIOR
The building is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac directly adjoining Mauerpark and features a classic facade that reflects the distinctive charm of a traditional Berlin building in the Scandinavian Quarter. Subtle green tones and simple plaster details define its street-facing appearance. The stucco ornaments, added around 2000, blend discreetly into the overall design. The spacious balconies with transparent metal railings give the building an open and welcoming feel, though some areas would benefit from a fresh coat of paint.
The entrance hall sets a pleasant tone with light-colored walls, modest stucco accents, a chandelier and tiled wainscoting that create a solid and inviting first impression. The sturdy dark green entrance door with glass panels lets in plenty of daylight and hints at the building’s period charm.
This atmosphere continues in the stairwell where the well-preserved wooden staircase with turned balusters and a gracefully curved handrail conveys an authentic sense of old Berlin. Large windows fill the stairwell with light and highlight the generous proportions, complemented by gently vaulted ceilings.
Altogether, the building offers a charming foundation with classic features, some of which have been refreshed over time, and an atmosphere that preserves the character of a traditional Berlin apartment house.
LOCATION
The Scandinavian Quarter is one of the most desirable residential areas in the northern part of Prenzlauer Berg, combining a lively neighborhood feel with a pleasant sense of calm. Broad streets lined with mature trees and mostly well-kept historic buildings create a relaxed urban atmosphere.
Around Gleimstrasse and Stargarder Strasse, the colorful and vibrant everyday life typical of Prenzlauer Berg unfolds. Small shops, popular cafés, weekly markets and a wide variety of restaurants shape the local scene. Estelle Dining, known for its modern Nordic-inspired cuisine, and the cozy WIM Kaffee are close by and perfect for a leisurely break. For everyday shopping, there are plenty of options along Schönhauser Allee.
Mauerpark, with its wide green lawns, famous flea market and numerous leisure opportunities, is an easy walk away and provides a welcome spot to relax outdoors.
Transport connections are excellent. Berlin’s main train station can be reached by public transit in about 15 minutes and Berlin Brandenburg Airport in around 40 minutes. Altogether, this area combines urban living with a well-established neighborhood spirit and a high quality of life.
