INTERIOR
The apartment is located on the 3rd floor of the front building in the “Vert”, a building complex that was designed and realized by the architects Herzog & de Meuron, known, among other things, for the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. On 124 m² you can experience spectacular architecture inside and out in combination with the highest quality interior fittings and design products.
A very large living/dining/kitchen area, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, one with a shower and one with a bathtub, 2 loggias plus various built-ins is the "framework". Of course, there is much more on offer: room heights of 3 m create a great feeling of space, plus the floor-to-ceiling, almost floor-to-ceiling glass elements. In the living/dining/kitchen area, a curve reminiscent of historical bay windows and a loggia stretched between them, also with curves, enrich the spatial experience. A support marks the kitchen counter and the tall refrigerator has been fitted into a niche opposite. Clever here is the allocation of the washing machine and dryer in the hallway area.
From the entrance you reach the private area with the 2 bedrooms, each of which has direct access to the second loggia. The apartment is also impressive in the details: recessed curtain rails, targeted use of wall and ceiling lights, spotlights, rain shower, built-in oak cabinets in the bathrooms, etc. The selection of interior design is also fantastic: Kartell-Laufen, Dornbracht, Tubes (radiators) become insiders be a term.
The colors are finely graduated, nuanced tones of white, beige and gray, which determine the appearance in the bathrooms, bedrooms and living-dining area. Harmony and aesthetics, to which the filigree herringbone parquet made of oak also contributes, of course with underfloor heating. Completion in 2023 guarantees the highest technical standards (e.g. elevator) and security, which includes the concierge. The ideal location in the middle of Mitte, south facing, 3rd floor, maximum comfort and sophisticated design with the successful claim to originality through the selection of the architectural office are the main features that speak for this apartment.
EXTERIOR
On the site of the former department store, art gallery and event center “Tacheles” (1906), translated as “speaking bluntly,” a new urban district has been created in recent years. Famous architects such as Herzog & de Meuron, Brandlhuber + Muck Petzet and Grüntuch Ernst Architects were commissioned to create an extraordinary and exclusive residential area through their distinctive and unique architectural language.
The “Vert” with its wave-shaped outer skin, the delicate balconies and the round bay windows is a design by Herzog & de Meuron. It characterizes the neighborhood in a self-confident, striking way. Restrained colors and strictly adhered to form language create an architectural exclamation mark that also speaks for the developers' courage in implementing unusual architecture.
You can also experience the special nature of this type of architecture inside. The image is characterized by curves that are reminiscent of Romanesque arches in church buildings. The view up the stairwell is spectacular. The curves of the staircase plus the banister with the oval window in the roof with a view of the sky are almost museum-like. Plus concrete gray and white as neutral colors. This space is a visual experience that does not resemble a conventional staircase. Here too, a place that almost has something sacred about it.
Architecture that takes up historical building elements, skilfully interprets them, brings them into new functional contexts and implements them with perfect craftsmanship. Anyone with an affinity or interest in architecture will find an adequate home here.
LOCATION
The location between the banks of the Spree and the “Spandauer Vorstadt” gallery district could not be more ideal for those interested in culture who want a central location in the middle of the action, but at the same time value a quiet retreat. In terms of gastronomy, the spectrum ranges from traditional restaurants that still exist, such as Clärchens Ballhaus on Auguststrasse with “Sonntagsschwoof” and beer garden with down-to-earth good cuisine, to the new culinary fusion experience in Root, the recently opened restaurant in the former telegraph office on Monbijoustrasse. Culturally it looks similar: the just opened photography museum Fotografiska is even on the Tacheles site, many young and established galleries are located along and around Auguststrasse, and the Museum Island, which presents world-class art, is just a stone's throw away. There are many shopping opportunities for daily needs in the immediate area and the connection to public transport couldn't be better.
