INTERIOR
The feeling of space, which is exceptionally spacious for an apartment building and which accompanies the residents through the house entrance and the staircase, can also be experienced in every room of this wonderful apartment. There are 7 doors leading off the spacious hallway, two of which are double doors, so that each room in the apartment can be entered separately. There are three rooms facing the street, the first of which is closed. It is particularly suitable as a bedroom/guest room or study. The middle room is in turn connected to the living room via a double wing door, which currently has a glazed loggia and to which the huge Berlin room with its wonderful Art Nouveau stucco ceiling is connected behind a large sliding door. This means there is a living area here that makes a real statement in terms of dimension and character.
The original wooden floors (board and herringbone parquet, floorboards in the entrance) are present in all of the rooms mentioned so far, but just need to be refinished.
A large kitchen, a window bathroom and another small room face the bright, completely quiet inner courtyard. If necessary, the kitchen can be moved to the Berlin room and a second bathroom created, see alternative floor plan. We have not checked the technical requirements for this.
The existing electrical installation needs to be renewed and the entire apartment is in need of renovation, but offers all the prerequisites for being transformed into a real Art Nouveau jewel.
EXTERIOR
The residential building at Goethestrasse 69 in Berlin-Charlottenburg was designed by the architects Curt and Arthur Reime. It was created in the years 1902/03 in the historicist architectural era. The building, which was designed as a tenement house at the time, has the typical, almost eclectic features of this era. In addition to neo-baroque stucco medallions between the windows, there are free gables that protrude over the hipped roof and are based on Renaissance models. Here too, medallion-like stucco and balustrade-like openings.
Classic symmetry with 2 emphasized side elements that protrude like a risalit frame the central zone of the facade and offer space for greenery towards the street. Balconies, winter gardens and open balconies make the risalite very varied.
What stands out is the entrance portal, which is symmetrical in the middle. The huge door with a round arch is flanked by two small niches, also in a round arch shape. All of this is surrounded by stucco over a large area to make the portal appear even larger.
Stylistically, this element belongs to Art Nouveau, just like the facade plaster with longitudinal profiles. This mixture of architectural history with reference to the design of the then avant-garde Art Nouveau movement is extremely remarkable. Even then, old met new.
When you enter the entrance you have another aha experience. Pure representation and historical awareness. Wooden panels with Art Nouveau elements, stucco frieze with stylized vines, lattice windows for the concierge, free stairs to the gallery with the basket arch plus a gold-plated stucco arch are just a few of the design elements that catch the eye here. The view of the cassette door with colored glasses is another feast for the eyes. Exceptionally authentic, almost perfect condition. You feel just as grandly welcomed as when it was created. Bourgeois living from back then can still be experienced here today. Something really special, this variety, this variety, this luxury.
LOCATION
The Goethestrasse 69 location is located in the heart of Charlottenburg and offers its residents a high quality of life thanks to the extremely diverse character of its surroundings. The chic Schlüterstrasse takes you to Kurfürstendamm with its designer boutiques and sophisticated flair in just over 10 minutes. The well-known Savignyplatz is also in the neighborhood and, thanks to its location between the “Theater des Westens”, “Renaissance Theater”, “Schiller Theater” and the “German Opera”, has traditionally always been a meeting place for actors and intellectuals. The bar-restaurants Paris Bar and Schwarzes Café on Kantstrasse and Lubitsch on Bleibtreustrasse are just a few examples of an established gastronomy scene that has lasted for decades and continues to enjoy great popularity. To the west, there is Charlottenburg neighborhood life around Karl-August-Platz with daycare centers and schools, small shops, playgrounds and a very popular, colorful weekly market. You are perfectly connected to public transport via the S-Bahn station “Savignyplatz”, the subway stations “Deutsche Oper” and “Ernst-Reuter-Platz” as well as various bus lines.
