Iconic new residence by Grüntuch Ernst Architekten in the AM TACHELES urban quarter
INTERIOR
At the heart of the new AM TACHELES urban quarter, Grüntuch Ernst has created an architecture that is both striking and understated. Defined by clean lines, exposed concrete and authentic materials, the spaces gain a sense of lightness and generosity through nearly three meter ceilings and expansive floor to ceiling glazing.
The apartment on the fifth floor opens into a spacious living and dining area. A custom Poliform kitchen with Miele and Bora appliances is integrated as a sculptural element that is precise, functional and discreet. Two loggias facing north and south extend the living space outdoors and create quiet areas for retreat.
The private wing offers two bedrooms. The main suite includes an ensuite bathroom with a rain shower and double vanity, while a second bathroom with a large bathtub serves both the second bedroom and guests. Dornbracht fittings in matte platinum, ceramics by Laufen and Bette, and carefully selected porcelain stoneware continue the clear materiality and highlight the understated quality.
Oak parquet flooring provides a warm and tranquil foundation for daily life. The apartment is complemented by the ensemble’s exclusive amenities including a Health Club & Spa with pool, sauna, steam bath, fitness room, as well as 24 hour concierge and security services. An underground parking space with electric charging is available as an option.
EXTERIOR
With the FORM3 building, Grüntuch Ernst has created an architectural statement. The façade is defined by a rhythm of loggias, their clear geometry lending depth and relief. Precisely framed, the projecting balconies take on a sculptural quality that produces a lively interplay of light and shadow. The sequence of openings gives the building both structure and movement, while transparent parapets emphasize openness and bold concrete frames convey permanence.
Each loggia adds valuable outdoor space and allows the sculptural qualities of the architecture to be experienced directly. To the north they look out over Aaron Bernstein Square, to the south onto a private courtyard garden where lush vegetation provides a calming contrast to the urban surroundings. This creates a dialogue between the energy of the city and the intimacy of a sheltered retreat, giving the architecture its distinctive presence.
LOCATION
The neighborhood offers some of Berlin’s most compelling culinary destinations. Bar Clara at the Fotografiska Museum with its artful cocktails. Gärtnerei Gastwirtschaft with seasonal cooking that combines regional roots and contemporary flair. Rutz, a Michelin starred landmark with an exceptional wine list. The Lokal, just steps away, has achieved cult status with its minimalist yet refined cuisine.
Transport connections are excellent. The U Bahn stations Naturkundemuseum and Rosenthaler Platz are within walking distance, as are the S Bahn stations Friedrichstraße and Oranienburger Straße. From Hackescher Markt trams provide access across the city. Berlin’s main train station is about ten minutes away and BER Airport about thirty minutes.
This is a location that combines the vibrancy of a global metropolis with the intimacy of a neighborhood. Urban, dynamic and offering the highest standard of living.
