First occupancy: Elegantly renovated period apartment with south-facing balcony
INTERIOR
Situated on the third floor of the front building, this newly renovated period apartment opens entirely to the sun-filled south side. The layout is thoughtfully arranged: from the hallway, you first enter the kitchen, pre-fitted with all necessary connections and ready for individual design. Next comes the bathroom, a sophisticated daylight space clad in large-format Ceppo di Gré stone tiles. Beyond lie the bedroom and living room, side by side, their generous windows flooding the interiors with light and creating a sense of openness. From the bedroom, doors open onto the balcony, where sweeping views stretch across the rooftops of Berlin all the way to Alexanderplatz.
The renovation is marked by precise craftsmanship and a harmonious balance of historical substance and contemporary design. A standout feature are the new Douglas fir floorboards from the Black Forest; their broad grain and warm tones lend the rooms both refinement and natural character. Classic details such as the original doors and fittings have been carefully preserved, adding an authentic period touch. The bathroom combines modern elegance with timeless materials, while the overall design seamlessly merges heritage and modernity.
The result is a home that captures the generosity of a Berlin period building while offering the advantages of a meticulous renovation: bright, consistently south-facing rooms, high-quality materials, a prime location on the third floor of the front building, and a balcony with panoramic views reaching to the TV Tower.
EXTERIOR
The front building presents the restrained elegance of classic Berlin architecture, with a light plaster façade, white mullioned windows, and a red tiled roof. The quiet, tree-lined street lends the house a welcoming and residential character despite its central location.
The entrance hall reflects period charm, with a historic tiled floor and subtle stucco detailing on the ceiling. From here, a generously lit staircase with wooden banisters and classic steps lined with runners leads upwards, offering residents a sense of history and permanence as soon as they step inside, an atmospheric introduction to the apartment above.
LOCATION
Behmstraße is part of a neighborhood that combines relaxed local life with urban vibrancy. Around the corner, Kiez Kaffee Kraft is the perfect place to start the day, while Estelle Dining, a neighborhood restaurant serving local and seasonal sharing plates, is a favorite for dinner. Schönhauser Allee with its shops and concept stores brings metropolitan flair, and Mauerpark, just a short walk away, offers green space, summer picnics, and its famous Sunday flea market. Berlin Mitte is also only a stone’s throw away.
Transport connections are excellent. Schönhauser Allee with S- and U-Bahn and Gesundbrunnen with S-Bahn and long-distance trains provide fast access to all parts of the city. Berlin Hauptbahnhof is around ten minutes away and Berlin Brandenburg Airport can be reached in approximately forty minutes.
