INTERIOR
This ground-floor apartment, which was completely renovated between 2019 and 2021 as part of the entire Gründerzeit ensemble, combines classic old building elements with contemporary comfort.

Delicate stucco was used in the open-plan living/kitchen area. Large, double-glazed windows, wide window sills and high-quality oak parquet flooring combine the historical heritage with modernity. Wall reveals imitate door arches and break up the straight lines of the floor plan.

The open-plan kitchen, equipped with new electrical appliances from AEG, Siemens and Küppersbusch, is ideal for relaxed brunches, distinguished teatimes and larger dinner parties - in summer even including the planned small backyard garden, which is directly accessible via its own patio door.

The modern, functional bathroom is fitted with large-format tiles in anthracite, Geberit fittings and a threshold-free stand-up shower and is mirrored across its entire width.
There are practical built-in wardrobes in the hallway and bedroom, which solve every storage space issue and replace a utility room - this completely renovated old building can compete with any new build in terms of functional aesthetics.

EXTERIOR
The Torstraße building is part of the typical appearance of turn-of-the-century architecture (1900). It is a typical example of the Gründerzeit with the urban ensembles consisting of the front building, side wings, inner courtyards, etc., often associated with the premises for manufactories of the time.

The façades were lavishly decorated and featured bay windows, balconies, arched windows, upright windows with glazing bars, etc. Stucco was also frequently used. Stucco was also frequently used, as here as horizontal joints to simulate stone façades. Symmetry in the arrangement of the windows, the courtyard entrance and the entrance doors corresponded to the aesthetic sensibilities of the time, as it provided logic and clarity.

Stores and businesses are housed on the first floor and the rows of avenue trees on both sides give the street a certain flair. Even today, Torstraße lives from this and from the similarity and commonalities of the buildings.

The pastel creamy white and ochre yellow emphasize the design language and harmoniously match the natural 3-part wooden entrance portal. During the renovation, the old building was lovingly restored so that stucco ceilings, ceiling friezes and decorative corbels can be seen in the entrance hall. The warm ochre, brown and white tones are harmoniously coordinated and enhance the flair. This allows the charm of this building era to come into its own.

LOCATION

Torstrasse is one of the streets of Berlin. In recent years, it has developed into the center of young, trendy Berlin, and small shops, trendy cafés, design galleries and bars such as the Danish microbrewery Mikkeller or the Pawn Dot Com Bar are now lined up here. If you want to indulge in culinary delights, Torstrasse is the place for you: the French classic 3 minutes sur mer, the vegan zero-waste restaurant Frea or high-quality Bistecca Panzanese at To The Bone.

For local recreation, it is best to go to the Weinbergspark, from whose hills you have a great all-round view of Berlin-Mitte and where you can cool your feet in the fountain on hot summer days. Those who prefer to drive a little further can be on the northbound autobahn within a quarter of an hour and can reach Lake Wandlitz in around 40 minutes and the Baltic Sea in just under 2 hours. You can be at BER in around 40 minutes.
