Light-filled designer apartment on the top floor with west-facing balcony
INTERIOR
This light-filled designer apartment on the fourth floor combines generous proportions with refined design and intelligent storage solutions. Conceived in 2019 by architect Thomas Bendel, the interior emphasizes clean lines, premium materials and meticulous craftsmanship.
At its heart is the open-plan living and dining area, featuring a custom-made kitchen by PA Tischlerei and fitted with appliances from Siemens, Bosch and Liebherr. Olive green and soft grey cabinetry contrasts beautifully with the countertop, which includes an elegant Blanco sink and faucet and a backsplash made of handmade tiles from Golem Baukeramik. Adjoining the kitchen, the spacious living area unfolds with large windows and access to the west-facing balcony, an airy retreat filled with warm evening light.
The private spaces are clearly structured: a serene master bedroom with a dressing room and adjoining home office, an additional flexible room, and practical auxiliary areas such as a pantry and storage room.
The master bathroom features bespoke joinery, double sinks by Kaldewei, fittings by AXOR, cement tiles by Via and a generous walk-in shower. The guest WC is understated and elegant, with a minimalist round sink from the ME by Starck line by Duravit. All plumbing and electrical installations were renewed in 2019, and underfloor heating in the master bathroom adds an extra layer of comfort.
Throughout the apartment, custom joinery, a harmonious material palette and considered detailing, including recessed lighting by Prediger and radiators from Zehnder, create a coherent atmosphere. Classic elements such as reclaimed wooden floorboards and historic doors with brass handles lend timeless character and subtly link the contemporary design to the building’s period charm.
EXTERIOR
The building presents a light-colored plaster facade structured by window axes and balconies, giving the classic Berlin period architecture its balanced and elegant rhythm.
A spacious entrance hall welcomes residents with its artistic floor mosaic and distinguished character. A striking ornate column accentuates the historic charm, while the staircase with its dark wooden handrail, turned balusters and pale wall tones leads gracefully to the upper floors. A continuous runner reinforces the warm and homely feel and lends the stairwell a clean and elegant line.
The building’s carefully preserved structure and distinctive architectural details provide a characterful setting for the modernized top-floor apartment.
LOCATION
Pasteurstraße lies at the heart of the Bötzowviertel, one of Prenzlauer Berg’s most sought-after neighborhoods. Here, well-kept historic buildings meet a vibrant community atmosphere. Quiet, tree-lined streets with Wilhelminian facades are just steps from Volkspark Friedrichshain, where mature trees, open lawns, cafés and an open-air cinema create an inviting green backdrop to everyday life.
The neighborhood combines a strong sense of community with urban ease. Weekly markets, artisan bakeries, organic shops and supermarkets are all within easy walking distance. Everything needed for daily life is right at hand.
Despite its calm setting, the connections are excellent. Tram lines M4, M5 and M6 provide a direct link to Alexanderplatz in just a few minutes, from where the main train station and Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg are easily accessible. The apartment is perfectly positioned for those who value both privacy and cosmopolitan connectivity.
