INTERIOR
This apartment is part of an architectural landmark by Brandlhuber+ Muck Petzet and is located in the visionary Tacheles quarter, one of Berlin’s most remarkable urban regeneration projects.
This contemporary loft impresses with its bold design language and open-plan layout, highlighted by exposed concrete walls and a high-end stainless steel kitchen. The spacious living, dining and kitchen area is filled with natural light. Floor-to-ceiling windows enhance the sense of space and open directly onto a generous west-facing terrace, perfect for enjoying sunsets in an urban setting.
At the heart of the apartment is the open living space, defined by clean lines and a restrained palette of materials. The sleek stainless steel kitchen blends seamlessly into the loft’s industrial aesthetic. The sleeping area is elegantly separated and clad in Swiss stone pine, creating both a striking architectural detail and a warm, tranquil retreat. The flexible layout allows for a second bedroom or additional separation of the living space if needed (see Alternative Floor Plan).
The apartment includes two high-quality bathrooms. The ensuite bathroom connected to the bedroom features a walk-in rain shower, mirrored wardrobe, Laufen fixtures and deep blue Mutina tiles that add a distinctive design touch. The second bathroom, accessible from the living area, is equipped with a shower and toilet and is ideal for guests or everyday convenience.
Comfort is a top priority throughout. Underfloor heating provides a pleasant indoor climate year-round, and exclusive amenities such as access to the private Health Club and Spa complete the offering.
EXTERIOR
Laika am Tacheles is a striking example of how sophisticated residential architecture can grow out of challenging urban conditions. Initially dismissed due to its narrow footprint, fire wall borders, escape routes and ground-floor restrictions for deliveries and underground parking, the site was originally intended for commercial use.
Instead of leaving this urban plot underutilized, Brandlhuber plus Muck Petzet transformed it into an innovative residential project: a vertical structure of compact, flexible studios, providing a clear answer to Berlin’s increasing demand for single-occupancy apartments.
Their avant-garde design is reflected in the building’s sculptural form and distinctive choice of materials. Swiss stone pine, exposed concrete, glazed tiles and stainless steel create a façade that shifts between raw industrial character and refined elegance. What began as a structural constraint has become a showcase for bold urban design. Today, Laika demonstrates how architectural highlights can emerge from overlooked city spaces.

Laika am Tacheles is situated in Mitte, right on Johannisplatz, surrounded by a lively city atmosphere. Numerous dining and nightlife options are close by.
