In Estrela, on one of the neighbourhood’s quiet residential streets, this three-bedroom has been newly renovated by a Swedish architect with a clear Scandinavian design approach. The project follows a warm and harmonious crème-white palette, guided by natural materials. The layout has been opened to its fullest potential, creating a bright flow through the social areas and bedrooms.

Craftsmanship is present in every detail. All bathroom furniture, wardrobes and kitchen cabinets were designed specifically for the apartment. The wash basins and the kitchen sink are sculpted from natural Silver Travertine, and local materials were prioritised throughout the renovation. The intention was not only to modernise but to respect and recreate original details wherever possible. The interior is furnished with unique Nordic vintage pieces a living room sofa, dining table and chairs, and an office chair sourced in Sweden and restored with premium Casamance fabric. These, along with a curated selection of Nordic design objects by Alvar Aalto, Svenskt Tenn, Matthias van Arkel and others, are available for sale with the house.

Every functional detail has been renewed with the same level of attention as the design, from infrastructure and insulation to windows and fixtures, while original elements such as the pigmented wooden floor, inner bedroom doors and the historic front door have been preserved. 

Set within Estrela, one of Lisbon’s most desirable residential districts, the apartment enjoys a calm, leafy atmosphere with small cafés, local bakeries and independent shops. The Basílica da Estrela and its gardens are a short walk away, as are many of Lapa’s well-known restaurants, cultural spots and riverside paths. Adding to the charm, the building hosts a small family-run grocery shop on the ground floor, a quiet reminder of the neighbourhood’s authenticity.
