FLOWER & PLANT TRENDS 2018

In December and January Santiago Brotons, (stylist) and Lea Kaufmann (FF Berlin founder) from our Berlin office was part in a tour to present flower and plant trends in Germany for 2018. Together with the florist Jil Berner and the DIY-expert Laetitia Delorme they visited Berlin, Hamburg and Munich. The sets and workshops centered around three trends Punk Rebooted, Re-Assemble and Romance 3.0.

Santiago Brotons, about the various trends:

"Re-Assemble is an additive trend. Upcycling/patchwork speaks for itself, objects from everyday life are added to others with different functions and create a new decorative object for the home. Because of the nature of this trend, the sum of everything is very colorful. Items, materials and objects that had no apparent interest from an aesthetic point of view, now are interesting because they contribute with interesting textures, colors etc. For this trend we used a dining room set up with a re-invented table, a recycled chair (Ikea designed by the Swedish design collective "Form Us With Love" ), a patchwork carpet and a vertical garden made out of a cloth stand and threads.

"The main color in Punk Rebooted is red, because it's an aggressive and provoking trend. The set represents a hallway, a room where you unburden yourself and shut the door to the outside world when you come home. The closet is used for throwing the stuff you have been carrying all day, you take off your shoes on the chair/stool, and listen to your favorite record that transports you to your own world."

"Romance 3.0 reminds of the typical romantic scenery, but in new version. We have other ways of living the romantic moment these days: a single glass of champagne because one can also experience a romantic moment in solitude. The trend reaches all our senses, we touch rich materials (velvet, leather, gold, marble, soft and cold flowers), we perceive scents (perfume, scented candles, flowers), we see a rich landscape of flowers, plants and lights, we taste (champagne, fruits), and we listen (music plays).
