The state apartment is located on the second floor on Berlin's monumental socialist boulevard - the Karl-Marx-Allee. The orientation of the building towards the south and east brings in sunlight all day and all year round; a special feature for being in Berlin's city center.
The corner situation and the projecting ground floor creates a huge terrace of 120 sqm. Behind the historic exterior, functional layouts hide in different room sizes.
From the corridor you reach the lounge area, from where the rest of the apartment opens up. To the left is the large living and dining area with exit to the terrace. The kitchen is downright and is pleasantly large. It offers space for a dining table with three to four seats. The east-facing window lets in pleasant sunlight for breakfast.
The two bedrooms are next to it, and from the larger you can enter the southern part of the terrace. The terrace itself is totally unique and feels like a second apartment outside. Standing on it and watching down Karl-Marx-Allee certainly gives one an "I am the King of the world" feeling.
The second bedroom lies next to the other and is fairly smaller, but offers a magnificent view of the boulevard through the huge window front.
All the walls are white, and the laminate floor is white to accentuate the brightness. The modern fitted kitchen in black including gas hob contrasts with this.

The apartment is located on Karl-Marx-Allee, the flagship street of the reconstruction project of the former GDR after the Second World War. It borders the street of the Pariser Kommune. The width of both lanes together gives the impression of being on a square rather than on a street.
The building dates from the 50s and was designed as a "working class palace". Accordingly, the exterior and interior of the building were planned and executed. The architecture is based on historic architectural styles. The façade with its window formats, oriels, columns, etc., was made entirely of ceramics and - under the ideologically colored slogan of the historical heritage - received a considerable proportion of stylistic elements of the Berlin classicism, an epoch that was more than 120 years ago; in many places there are quotes of antique individual forms, doric and ionic columns, for example decorative gables with architrave and frieze. It has recently been expertly cleaned and restored. The masonry is traditionally built and plastered, which of course has positive effects on the indoor climate. Traditional craftsmanship has also been used in stone masonry, e.g. the "classicist" columns in the staircase or the locksmith work on railings and elevators.
The apartments were extremely popular in GDR times, also because of the technical standards such as hot water, district heating or elevators. And they are again today, especially among actors, politicians and famous pop singers, thanks to their unique ambience and the excellent craftsmanship that has been shown and proven to this very day. Socialist archaism is missing here, but maybe not.
Karl-Marx-Allee is located in the heart of Berlin - on the border between Friedrichshain and Mitte. Along the boulevard is everything you need for daily life. Like the sophisticated restaurant Umspannwerk Ost (which, as the name implies, is a former substation and is surrounded by six-meter-high, glass-enclosed glazed gates that now house tables and chairs). On the other side of the street is a modern, well-stocked Edeka, a flower shop and a small weekly market (always on Tuesdays and Thursdays). In the immediate vicinity there is also the chic Čsa Bar and various furniture stores such as Original in Berlin, Bulthaup and BoConcept. The nearest underground station is "Weberwiese" and can be reached in just a 2 minutes walk. From here you are at Alexanderplatz in no time and from there you can easily and quickly reach the rest of Berlin.
