There’s a feeling that comes with a true loft-style home. It’s got an authentic quality to it. Sophisticated. Refined. Urban. Special.

When you find the right one, you’ll know that it’s not a condo - not by any stretch of the imagination. It’s a home that happens to sit on top of an historic building in the coolest part of the city. You may have seen this before, but in cities like Chicago, New York, Boston - places where living in the city has meaning and becomes part of an identity.

In cities like Denver, this sort of property is truly one-of-a-kind. It’s safe to say that the Penthouse at the Saddlery Building is not like anything else in town.

The roots of the Saddlery Building date back to 1900, when Denver was growing up, and the area known today as LoDo was the center for industrial-style buildings that fueled the economic boom of the turn of the century. That same spirit runs through the property, although today, this remarkable home sits atop the iconic structure as the only residential unit - its crown jewel.

Originally envisioned to be two private penthouse units, the current owners purchased both and engaged Boss Architects to help design and craft it into one remarkable home. At just over 6,700 square feet, the penthouse boasts a level of privacy and sophistication that cannot be duplicated.

In partnership with the owners, the architects designed a space that focuses on family and entertaining. In the architect’s own words, “it’s an oasis” - and when you enter it for the first time, you’ll immediately feel the impact of this.

At the center of the property are wide-open spaces, high ceilings, and tons of natural light. Thick walls of original brick and heavy wood timbers highlight the historic nature of the building while also providing a level of quiet that might be unexpected for an urban home. Separate dining, living, and entertaining areas all feel appropriately sized for both intimate and large-scale gatherings.

Around the perimeter are the private areas: three ensuite bedrooms, a private art gallery, a wine room, an office, and a craft room that easily doubles as a fourth bedroom. You’ll also find clever surprises like a “garage” for just about any creative endeavor one could imagine.

The exterior of the penthouse level is clad in copper, giving it a sense of timelessness. The 2,500-square-foot rooftop terrace blurs the line between inside and outside, as entire walls of glass disappear into the thick brick exterior. Features that include mature landscaping, multiple water features and fire pit areas, along with an outdoor kitchen, extend the living spaces even further - while still offering an unmatched level of privacy.
