INTERIOR
This exclusive apartment on Neuenburger Strasse combines a generous sense of space, uncompromising craftsmanship, and understated elegance in a thoughtfully composed floor plan. Spanning approximately 182 square meters, the layout balances architectural clarity with refined functionality and premium finishes.
At the heart of the apartment is the open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area, covering around 79 square meters. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with natural light and open onto a southwest-facing terrace of about 26 square meters, featuring an architecturally integrated concrete planter. The custom-designed kitchen by Next125 is equipped with top-tier appliances from Gaggenau, including a refrigerator, dishwasher, oven, and combi-steamer. A Bora Professional cooktop with integrated extractor, a Franke sink, and a Vipp faucet complete the ensemble. An integrated bar subtly defines the space and creates a smooth transition between cooking and entertaining.
The private area includes a quiet bedroom with direct access to the en-suite bathroom, which features a freestanding bathtub, a walk-in rain shower, a Japanese-style AquaClean toilet by Geberit, and premium VOLA fixtures. A distinctive highlight is the hyperelliptical washbasin by Italian brand Boffi, designed by Piero Lissoni. A second, separate bathroom with shower and a dedicated utility room add further convenience.
A third room, ideal as a study or guest bedroom, opens onto a small west-facing balcony of approximately 4 square meters. All windows are floor-to-ceiling and framed in solid oak, adding warmth and depth to the interior. High-quality Swiss parquet flooring underlines the overall sense of calm sophistication.
Completed in 2017, the building remains in mint condition and offers a wide range of amenities. These include a residents-only spa area with pool, sauna, steam bath, and fitness room, as well as a concierge service, step-free access, a heated and secure underground garage with direct elevator access to the apartment, and a private, sheltered bicycle storage room.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Heating is provided via underfloor heating with individual room controls, powered by district heating. The building meets the KfW 70 energy efficiency standard.
EXTERIOR
The concept for this project began on a summer day in Milan when architect Peter Külby came across a quiet courtyard off a side street near Via Montenapoleone. Nestled between two facades, the space offered a green retreat that felt both secluded and connected to the city. It became the inspiration for a new kind of residential architecture that brings together urban life and botanical calm.
This vision has now taken shape. Three independent residential buildings, housing a total of 51 apartments, are arranged around a spacious garden designed by Swiss landscape architect Enzo Enea. The ensemble is complemented by an adjacent hotel. Large windows, south-facing balconies, and natural materials define an architecture that values precision, simplicity, and longevity.
Sustainability played a central role in the design. The result is low energy consumption without compromising aesthetics or comfort. The Yard is not about grand gestures. It is a place of quiet confidence for those who prefer clarity to spectacle.
LOCATION
Neuenburger Strasse is quietly situated in the heart of Berlin Kreuzberg, between Mehringplatz and the Landwehr Canal. The streetscape is marked by mature trees, classic buildings, and wide pavements. The atmosphere is open and well established, offering a calm presence in a central urban location. Two underground stations, Hallesches Tor and Prinzenstrasse, are only a few minutes' walk away.
The area connects two distinct sides of the city. To the south lies the vibrant Bergmannkiez with its cafés, small shops, and weekly markets. To the west are Friedrichstrasse and the historic newspaper district, with their mix of shopping, restaurants, and urban infrastructure.
Cultural landmarks such as the St. Agnes gallery, the Berlinische Galerie, and the Jewish Museum are within walking distance, as is the future Exile Museum at Anhalter Bahnhof. The nearby Amerika Gedenkbibliothek, a private tennis club, and several theatres and cinemas further enrich the neighborhood.
Green spaces are also close. The Landwehr Canal and a quiet tree-lined park are just a few minutes away, offering space for rest, movement, and nature in the middle of the city.
Despite its protected setting, the apartment is very well connected. Berlin Central Station can be reached in around 15 minutes, and Berlin Brandenburg Airport in approximately 35 minutes.
