INTERIOR
Main Building
This detached family home in Golßen, Brandenburg, offers a calm counterpoint to city life. Surrounded by greenery, it provides a retreat in nature while still being just 40 minutes by train from Berlin.
The house has undergone a comprehensive renovation: roof, windows, façade, plumbing and heating system including a wall box for e-mobility have all been replaced. Inside, a minimalist, finely balanced design combines historical details such as the cast iron balustrade and paneled doors with contemporary architecture and high-quality finishes.
The staircase forms a central feature, elegantly linking old and new. From the entrance hall, an original period staircase with a distinctive newel post leads to the first floor, its tiled flooring quietly reinforcing the overall calm. From there, a cantilevered staircase with open oak treads and a steel stringer rises to the attic.
On the mezzanine level, the living, dining and kitchen areas unfold in a generous sequence of spaces. Oiled solid wood parquet meets poured screed in the kitchen zone. A fireplace adds warmth and atmosphere, while the fully equipped kitchen opens directly to the terrace and garden. Here, a twelve by four meter pool extends the living area outdoors during the summer months. The mezzanine also includes a bedroom and a daylight bathroom with shower.
Upstairs are two quiet bedrooms, a study and a bathroom with bathtub. The design is restrained and consistent, with carefully chosen, high-quality materials. The attic has been converted into a loft-like living space with exposed beams; two additional rooms provide flexible options as bedrooms or workspaces.
Workshop / Garage
A separate outbuilding with a wide driveway currently serves as workshop and garage. Built to a solid standard, with tiled roof and plain plaster façade, the structure is simple yet robust.
Inside, the space is bright and clearly articulated, with exposed timber trusses and a high, open gable. A glass block window provides soft natural light, while two garden doors ensure direct access outside. Thanks to its generous volume and quality of construction, the building could be converted into a studio, guest house or additional living space. It is equally well suited for use as a workshop, garage or storage.
Stable Building
The ensemble also includes a historic stable in unplastered clinker brick, today used as storage.
Set back among mature trees, it exudes character with its segmental arches, small windows and wooden doors. Weathering and patina give it an authentic presence, recalling the site’s agricultural past. Here as well there is potential for sensitive adaptation or expansion.
EXTERIOR
The house presents a clearly structured, understatedly representative façade, restored with meticulous care. Its symmetrical plaster front, sculpted window surrounds and classically proportioned eaves all point to a late nineteenth century origin. At the entrance, a central double-leaf wooden door with paneled detailing has been preserved with its natural patina, adding depth and character to the carefully maintained exterior.
The façade is finished in a soft sandstone tone, articulated by white plaster frames and cornices. The roof was entirely renewed during the renovation, including drainage and verges. A small open staircase in natural stone, with flanking parapet walls, leads up to the entrance, marking the transition from street to home. A mature deciduous tree at the property boundary shades the approach and frames the portal with quiet dignity.
The rear of the house opens onto a spacious garden plot that wraps around the ensemble in a U shape. The adjoining terrace connects directly to the living and kitchen areas.
From here, the workshop to the side can also be reached, with its own driveway leading in from the street. Between the main house, the workshop, and the set-back stable building, a clearly defined garden area opens up with lawns, an outdoor pool, and a designated barbecue area. The paved driveway, well-proportioned paths, and discreetly integrated wall box highlight the functional quality of the property as a whole.
The exterior combines historical character with a calm, contemporary presence. The house appears solid, well maintained, and unobtrusive. It asserts itself with quiet confidence, set within a plot that is clearly structured and full of potential.
LOCATION
The property lies in a quiet and mature setting on the edge of Golßen’s historic town center. The street is lined with a varied mix of residential houses, small courtyards, and gardens, creating an authentic village atmosphere. Direct access to the property comes from the street itself, whose calm layout and loose pattern of development enhance the sense of a pleasant residential environment.
Golßen is situated within the gently rolling landscape of the Lower Fläming, surrounded by woodland, open fields, and small streams. Despite the natural setting, transport links are excellent. Golßen train station is only a few minutes’ walk away and offers a direct rail connection to Berlin in around forty minutes. Local amenities include shops, schools, and medical services, while weekly markets and small craft businesses bring additional vitality to everyday life.
This location brings together the best of both worlds. It offers rural calm, established surroundings, and a high degree of privacy, yet maintains direct access to the city. An ideal choice for those who value architectural quality, space, and seclusion while remaining connected and flexible.
